What is Canada Greener Homes Grant?


Federal government's Greener Homes Grant allows residents to easily upgrade their homes and increase their energy efficiency. Homeowners may apply for grants up to $5,000, and an additional $600 to help with the cost of an EnerGuide energy evaluation retroactively to December 1, 2020.

 

It is easy to apply for Canada Greener Homes Grant


The Canada Greener Homes Grant application process is simple. Register first through the Canada Greener Homes Grant website.


After you have confirmed your eligibility and registered for the program, EnergyWerx can arrange a pre-retrofit assessment. After the assessment, you will receive your upgrades in your own home. After the assessment, we will return to your home to complete the retrofit assessment. We will also apply for reimbursement. To request a refund, upload your receipts to Greener Homes Portal. After uploading your records, you will receive your money back within 90 to 120 days.


What are the conditions for Canada Greener Homes Grant?


It is easy to find out if you are eligible for the Canada Greener Homes Grant. First, you can only register one homeowner per house. The home must also be your primary residence. We can help you book pre- and post-renovation assessments. This is one requirement. Also, you will need to do at least one eligible energy-upgrade renovation. Keep all receipts from energy upgrades. You'll need to submit copies of receipts in order to get a refund. The grant is only available to pre-retrofit EnerGuide assessments that were completed after December 1, 2020. All products required for retrofitting your Canadian home will need to be purchased by you. Native applicants may be eligible for multiple homes registrations, even if they aren't the primary residence. The applicant must be the owner of the primary residence.


What type of property is eligible for Canada Greener Home Grant


To meet the eligibility criteria, you must have a detached, semi-detached, or mobile home. To be eligible, your home must have been in existence for at least six months. The grant is not available to multi-unit residential buildings that exceed three stories in height.


What are the Eligible Reimbursement Conditions?


For eligible upgrades made after December 1, 2020, the government will reimburse up to $5,000. For the cost of EnerGuide evaluations, you will be eligible for a reimbursement of up to $600. Refunds are not available for EnerGuide evaluations that were performed before December 1, 2020.
